Choose the Sizes
1. Determine the best orientation for the art. Vertical spaces are better suited for art with a vertical orientation, horizontal spaces for art with a horizontal orientation.
2. It is generally recommended that a piece of art cover 60% - 75% of the space in which it’s displayed. To determine this number, measure the width and height of the space in inches and multiply the two numbers. Next multiply that number by .6 and you will have the square inch measurement required to fill 60% of your chosen space. Next to each size option we also show the square inch measurement so that you can be confident you’re choosing the right size. Don’t
worry about being exact, either; being close enough counts.
3. If you’re getting a framed piece (our most popular option), remember that depending on the frame choice you’ll be adding 4” - 6” to each dimension of the artwork. For instance, if you choose an image size of 24” x 36” and want it framed with the Hudson Black and Gold frame, the total framed dimensions of the piece will be 30” x 42”.
